WHAT TO EXPECT
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks and before proceeding, you should seek an opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner such as Dr Richardson.
Dr. Philip Richardson and his team want all of their patients to have a comfortable and speedy recovery after their breast surgery procedures at Brisbane Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery. To help ensure the most efficient breast surgery recovery possible for patients of his Brisbane, Queensland plastic surgery practice, Dr. Richardson provides them with comprehensive post-operative instructions designed to promote proper healing and optimal comfort. The willingness and ability of patients to follow these post-operative instructions to the letter plays a significant role in how smoothly their breast surgery recovery proceeds, as well as in the quality and longevity of the results they are able to achieve.
Below, we have provided a basic overview of what patients can expect from their breast surgery recovery period after undergoing breast augmentation with implants, breast reduction, or breast lift surgery at our practice serving the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, and communities throughout Queensland. For further breast surgery recovery information, please contact Brisbane Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery today.
The Breast Surgery Recovery Process
For the first two or three days of the breast surgery recovery process, patients may experience fatigue and discomfort. It is important that patients get plenty of rest during this time. Optimally, they should be cared for by a responsible friend or family member. Any pain can be managed with medication prescribed by Dr. Richardson. One of our nurses will contact the patient the day after breast surgery to ensure that they are not experiencing complications.
We provide our patients with a surgical garment to wear for the first six weeks after breast surgery. This garment provides support and promotes healing during breast surgery recovery. It must be worn according to instructions.
Patients should refrain from engaging in strenuous activity after their breast augmentation, lift, or reduction surgery, including those that involve lifting or pushing, for at least six weeks. Driving should also be avoided for at least two weeks.
Check-ups during the breast surgery recovery period are scheduled at our Brisbane, Queensland plastic surgery offices for one week, six weeks, six months, and twelve months after the patient’s breast augmentation, reduction, or lift surgery. For our patients’ convenience, the cost of each of these follow-up appointments is included in the original surgery fee. The cost of breast surgery will be determined prior to the procedure, and payment plans are available.
