Dermal Filler Injections
Dermal filler treatments are designed to refresh, lift, restore or add volume and balance facial symmetry. Dermal Filler injections can also be used to add structure to facial contours and provide a rejuvenated, youthful, and natural appearance.
Dermal fillers work to ‘plump’ the skin and effectively fill in lines, wrinkles, and depressions. Fillers can also be used to enhance both the upper and lower lip and to add fullness to the contours of the face.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner
Dermal fillers can be used to enhance the shape of the natural lips by restoring symmetry, defining the borders, and adding volume. Subtle and natural changes to the shape and size of the lips can enhance and flatter your natural features. The most common amount administered is 1ml. Lip filler generally lasts about 6 months, often longer before a top-up is required. Minimal bruising and swelling may be experienced in the days following the procedure, which will subside usually within a week.
Cheek fillers can restore or create fullness in the cheeks and highlight the cheekbones to enhance youthfulness and symmetry. There is no downtime, though you may experience slight soreness or tenderness in the initial days following the procedure. Cheek filler typically last between 1-2 years depending on your individual circumstances.
The lines from the nostrils to the corners of the mouth can be treated using dermal filler to maintain youthfulness. In conjunction with cheek filler, this procedure can significantly improve the signs of ageing such as sagging and loss of fine lines. Redness and swelling are to be expected, and possible minimal bruising near the site of injection. 1ml of dermal filler to the naso-labial folds should be reviewed at 6 months, and then yearly.
The lines tracing from the mouth to the jawline, also known as the Marionette lines, can be treated with dermal filler to disguise their prominence and restore youthfulness. A typical treatment to the marionette lines will be 1ml, and this treatment is often performed in conjunction with other treatment areas to achieve the best results. Swelling is usually experienced for the 2-3 days following the procedure. The fillers should be reviewed at 6 months to determine their longevity.
A typical treatment session with a member of our injecting team will take from 30 minutes to one hour with instantaneous results. Redness, swelling, and itching are normal reactions and typically disappear within a few days. Results of anti-wrinkle inject ions at our Brisbane, Queensland plastic surgery practice can last for up to four months whilst dermal fillers can last for up to one year, depending on the treatment. After the rejuvenating results of the injections fade, treatment can safely be repeated if desired.
Dermal filler results can be seen immediately following treatment and can last from 3-6 months.
